After the success of la Valise (the suitcase), a short-film produced by the hotel in 2012, and the permanent exhibition Body and soul by Jean-Claude Poitras in May 2014, le Saint-Sulpice hotel Montreal decided to pursue its quest to create unique experiences in order to indulge its guests’ imagination!
The hotel wanted to offer a unique book to its guests and visitors.
The idea was born after La Valise movie was shot. It all came about one lovely autumn morning, while exchanging over a coffee, on the sunny terrace of suite 622. The project was conceived then, at that precise moment. You know those ‘what if’ brainstorming moments when everything seems possible, when you give your imagination free rein, and when the craziest ideas surface…
The hotel is a place where stories happens, where meetings and discussions are shared… every day ! What if someone would take the time to imagine, write and tell about these stories? What if we invited some writers to stay at the hotel. Maybe they would be just as inspired as we are this morning, and feel compelled to write! We could gather all these texts and create a collection of short stories we would offer to our guests?
What a wonderful gift it would be!
Suite Stories, the book
This crazy challenge started in 2012 and 2 years later, November 3, 2014 we launched our book Suite stories at Sinclair Restaurant, in the presence of 8 of the 14 writers.
On behalf of the entire Saint-Sulpice Hotel Montreal team, I would like to sincerely thank all the authors once again who accepted immediately and enthusiastically to participate in this original project. In addition to offering our guests and visitors unique experiences that are rich in emotion – in the form of short stories – the writers wanted to share their passion of literature and the pleasures of reading.
Fiction, non-fiction, detective story, poem, novel and historical short story, the various writing styles in this collection will surely sustain your interest during your next stay at the hotel le Saint-Sulpice Montreal.
This book is available in each suites of the hotel and in the library next to the lobby fireplace, so we invite to read it during your next visit!
