In November, we support: FRED Foundation

In November, Hotel Saint-Sulpice Montreal support: FRED Foundation

Over the past year, the Hotel Saint-Sulpice has been implementing a sustainable development program. In November, we are supporting FRED Foundation.

The principle is simple: we invite our guests who stay at the hotel for more than one night not to use the housekeeping service. By doing so, our guests are helping to reduce their ecological footprint, and they’re also contributing to our monthly collection, since for every day they refuse, the hotel donates $5 to a charity close to our hearts.

In the month of November, Sarah Perrin chose the FRED Foundation, which works to improve the quality of life for families, children, and adolescents affected by diabetes throughout the province of Quebec.

Since its foundation in 1974, the Foundation Resources for Diabetic Children has committed as a non-profit organization to improve the lives of children, adolescents, and families affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D) throughout Quebec. Our Foundation was created with the goal of building a supportive community and providing essential resources to families facing the challenges of managing T1D in children.

The Mission of FRED Foundation:

FRED contributes to the daily well-being of families, children, and adolescents living with type 1 diabetes throughout the province of Quebec and provides a unique specialized summer camp experience for young diabetics.

FRED’s initial mission was to meet the pressing needs of Camp Carowanis, Quebec’s camp for type 1 diabetic children. Over the years, recognizing the needs of children and families, the Foundation gradually expanded its services: telephone support, training and information activities, opportunities for parents to meet and share, awareness initiatives, gathering of pediatric diabetes health professionals, and other social events.

Through their various programs and initiatives, their goal is to equip families with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the complexities of diabetes care while breaking the isolation for children living with T1D. They emphasize overall well-being and inclusion, striving to create a healthier and brighter future for all children affected by diabetes.

We’re counting on you and your support, and we’d like to thank you in advance!

Développement durable Sustainable development program

Le Saint-Sulpice Hotel supports the arthritis Society of Canada with its Green Program

In October, our collection will be dedicated to the Arthritis Society of Canada.

Sophie Légaré, our Housekeeping Manager, chose the Arthritis Society of Canada for the monthly fundraising from our Green Program. Sophie is particularly sensitive to this cause and explains why: ‘I chose this cause because my mother has suffered from severe rheumatoid arthritis for 27 years. Thanks to the Arthritis Society of Canada, which covered the cost of treatment, my mother participated in trial treatments (as a guinea pig) REMICADE. Without these treatments, she would have been in a wheelchair and completely immobile for 25 years. I would like today to be able to collect a nice sum of money so that other people can benefit from their support in turn. I also have a very close friend who is only 47 years old, and who is no longer part of active life because of this same disease. It is a disease that is very painful for the person who has it. It immobilizes and in fact impacts all members of the family. It is relatively unknown and even children can be affected.’

Throughout the month of October, we invite guests who stay at the hotel to contribute to our collection by refusing housekeeping. For each refusal, the hotel Le Saint-Sulpice collects $5/day.

Since June, the hotel has launched the Green Program, which aims to promote all actions of sustainable and social development. Both through the financial support of organizations, but also in the daily management of the hotel: in waste management, energy saving, choice of suppliers, recycling…

Saint-Sulpice hôtel Montréal soutient la société de l'arthrite Canada

The Mission of The Arthritis Society of Canada

société arthrite du canada soutenu par Le Saint-Sulpice Hôtel Montréal à travers son programme vert

The fire of arthritis scorches the lives of six million of our loved ones, friends and neighbours. It is Canada’s most common chronic condition, yet it rarely gets the attention it deserves. That’s why the Arthritis Society is on a mission to change the conversation and let the world know it’s not “just” arthritis.

Fortunately, we’re fueled by a community of generous, loyal supporters who share our commitment to fighting the fire of arthritis with the fire of research, innovation, advocacy, and information and support.

We are a national charity with local impact. Your donations make a difference for people living with arthritis in every province. Thank you!

Arthritis is Canada’s most common chronic disease, scorching the lives of approximately 1.25 million people in Quebec. The Arthritis Society is committed to helping all Canadians fight the fire of arthritis with research, advocacy, innovation and information and support.

Donor support enables us to invest in research to better understand, diagnose and treat arthritis, with a goal to one day extinguish it for good. We advocate to all levels of government on the most pressing issues affecting people with arthritis, their families and caregivers. Drawing on the expertise of healthcare professionals, our information, resources and tools provide trusted, patient-centric information to thousands of people from Quebec.

In septembre, Hotel Saint-Sulpice Montreal support: The Quebec Division of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada

Over the past year, the Hôtel Saint-Sulpice has been implementing a sustainable development program. In September, we are supporting The Quebec Division of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.

For September, Marc-André, our General Manager, has chosen the Quebec Division of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. The mission of this non-profit organization is to be the leader in finding a cure for multiple sclerosis and enabling people affected by this disease to improve their quality of life.

”This cause is particularly close to my heart because my father had the disease until his death in 2014. It is an incurable and degenerative disease of the nervous system. I watched my father’s health gradually deteriorate, as he lost his motor skills and mobility. He lost the use of his legs, ending his days in a wheelchair. Marc-André, General Director

The Mission of the Quebec Division of the Multiple Sclerosis Society Canada:

The primary mission of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Quebec Division is to mobilize the multiple sclerosis community to make a difference.
The Society works with researchers, donors, partners, volunteers and people affected by multiple sclerosis to make a difference. Whether it’s improving the quality of life of people in our country now or funding high-quality research that will one day eradicate multiple sclerosis, they form a community that works in unison.

Fundamental values that guide their work:

  • From action to impact: making a difference.
  • Collaboration: working together.
  • Compassion: helping people.
  • Boldness: set ambitious goals.
  • Resilience: don’t give up.

We’re counting on you and your support, and we’d like to thank you in advance!

In August we support the Montreal YWCA

The organization of the month for the August collection is the Women’s Y Foundation Montreal.

Every month,Le Saint-Sulpice Hôtel Montréal organizes a fundraiser in support of a socially or environmentally committed organization. This month, the hotel’s green program will enable us to support the actions of the Women’s Y Foundation Montreal.

The green program is very simple: every guest staying at the hotel for more than 2 nights is invited to refuse housekeeping service for their suite. For each refusal of service, the hotel donates $5 per day to the organization chosen by one of the hotel’s employees. Launched in June 2022, the Hotel has thus contributed $15,765 in donations to all the organizations we have supported.

This month Gabriela, our Finance Director, chose the Women’s Y Foundation and explains why.

‘I chose this foundation because it helps all women and girls who are victims of violence. Thanks to this foundation, they can find a refuge, a listening ear and the help and support they need to bounce back and start a new life’.

The green program we’ve been running for almost a year now consists of inviting guests staying at the hotel for more than one night not to use the housekeeping service. For the month of June, Chanel, our sales manager, chose the organization Maison Répit Oasis, and explains the reasons behind her choice.

‘I chose this cause because having a family of 4 children we gravitate in a world where in our surroundings there seems to be more and more diagnosed cases. It’s still very taboo, there’s a lot of pressure to be superhero parents. Living this reality on a daily basis brings its share of additional challenges, and it is essential for parents to be able to count on this service.’

In May we support GRIS-Montreal with our green program

In May, we support GRIS-Montreal with our green program collection.

The green program that we have been implementing for almost a year is a program that consists of inviting guests who stay at the hotel for more than one night to not take the housekeeping service. By this simple gesture, our guests contribute to reduce their ecological footprint, and they contribute to our monthly collection since the hotel gives $5 for each day of refusal to an organization that is close to our hearts.

For the month of May, Anaïs, our reception manager, has chosen the GRIS-Montreal organization. She explains to us the reasons for her choice.

‘This cause is very important to me, because it is part of my core values, since always. I have always been close to and surrounded by queer people in my life. All over the world, people are victims of violence and discrimination because of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. For me, protecting these people has become my primary motivation in life. Human rights are universal and indivisible. Everyone should have the same basic rights, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression!’

GRIS-MONTREAL MISSION

GRIS-Montreal is a non-profit community organization that demystifies sexual orientations and gender identities through the testimonial method. It is above all a large family of 250 volunteers who work daily to build a more open society.

GRIS-Montreal is a non-profit organization created in 1994 whose mission is to promote a better knowledge of sexual and gender diversity and to facilitate the integration of LGBT+ people in society.

Since school is an environment where young people’s values take shape and where ignorance gives way to knowledge, they have chosen to prioritize the school environment to demystify sexual orientations and gender identities. They work mainly in high schools and CEGEPs in the greater Montreal area and have adapted their interventions for students in the 3rd cycle of elementary school.

GRIS volunteers also intervene with other clienteles such as francization classes, youth centers, workplaces and seniors’ homes.

Thank you in advance for your contribution!
