It combines poetry, stagecraft, daring acrobatics, and technology to explore the delicate balance between people, animals, and the world we all share. This activity can be enjoyed amongst family, friends or with a partner.

Sustainable development program

IN APRIL WE SUPPORT EARTH DAY CANADA

This month we are mobilizing for Earth Day Canada and our collection will be dedicated to them.

Each month, one of our employees chooses the organization or the cause that is close to his heart, and which will be the lucky recipient of our monthly collection.

Our green program, which will soon celebrate its 1 year, is an opportunity for our guest to participate in reducing our environmental footprint and to financially support (without paying money) an organization.

This month Charlotte Lemoine, our director of revenue, chose the association Earth Day Canada. Indeed, sensitive for many years to climate change, Charlotte is involved in the sustainable committee of the Hotel and participates in the many actions that the hotel deploys to protect the environment.

She explains the reasons for her choice:

‘The ecology has always been close to my heart. I love to travel and when I started to work in the tourism industry, I realized the importance of sustainable tourism to be able to protect this beautiful planet we love to explore. It was therefore natural that I wrote my master’s thesis on how compatible the luxury hotels and sustainable development can be. I am always very interested in finding new sustainable concrete actions.’

The Earth Day Mission

Earth day Canada to save the planet

To help people and organizations reduce their environmental impact.

Earth Day was first celebrated on 22 April 1970, often considered as the birth of the environmental movement. Over the years, Earth Day has become the largest participatory environmental movement on the planet.

Earth Day Canada has developed many awareness and action programs, because Earth Day is not just April 22, but every day!

Discover here the actions, webinars, programs, that each of us can do on our own and which have an impact on our environment. Individually, companies, communities, we are all invited to inform and train ourselves, to better respect the environment.

We thank you in advance for your contribution, because every gesture counts!

In March, we support RT21

In March, Le Saint-Sulpice Hotel Montreal supports ‘Regroupement pour la trisomie 21’

In March we invite all guests staying at the hotel for more than 2 nights to refuse their housekeeping service. For each day of refusal, the hotel pays $5 to an association or organization that is mobilizing for causes that are close to our hearts.

Thanks to the green program introduced since June 2022, we financially support associations and we reduce our ecological footprint, by reducing the use of household cleaning products, changes of sheets and towels. because every gesture counts!

This month, our colleague Alice Jean-Tremblay, culture & talents coordinator, chose the Regroupement pour la Trisomie 21 (RT21), which she has personally actively supported for years.

‘I have had a special affection for Down Syndrome group since I was young. When I was in elementary school in Quebec City, my best friend had Down syndrome. All the other kids asked me why I was friends with her. I never saw a difference between her and me. My fondest memories at school are with her. For my 18th birthday party, I collected donations for this organization and when I was asked what cause I would like to support for our green program, I did not hesitate to get involved with the Down Syndrome group. Plus, International Down Syndrome Day is March 21, a few days after my birthday.’

RT21 Mission

RT21 is a Quebec non-profit organization whose mission is to foster the full development of people with trisomy 21, promote their contribution to society and defend their rights. RT21 also help the families, caregivers and professionals who support them.

What is trisomy 21? Trisomy 21, also called Down syndrome, is a congenital condition caused by the presence of an extra chromosome on the 21st pair of chromosomes. It is not a disease, it cannot be caught and it cannot be cured. In people with trisomy 21, there are particularities such as cognitive delay as well as distinctive anatomical characteristics that vary from person to person. The incidence is approximately one case per 770 births. This increases with maternal age. Trisomy 21 is generally not hereditary but random.

In February we collect for the Canadian Cancer Society

The Saint-Sulpice Hotel Montreal is mobilizing for the fight against cancer through its green program

In February, the collection of our green program will be in favor of the Canadian Cancer Society, a way of highlighting World Cancer Day, which takes place on February 4th.

Throughout the month of February, we will invite guests staying at the hotel for more than 2 nights not to request the housekeeping service. For each refusal of service, the hotel pays back $5/day . The amount thus collected allows us to contribute to the actions of a foundation or association that will have been chosen by one of the hotel employees.

This month, Magalie Sparsa, our Director of Sales, chose the Canadian Cancer Society.

‘I chose the Canadian Cancer Society because it’s a cause that particularly touches me. Like most people, I have been close to people who have been victims of cancer in all its forms.

Cancer can unfortunately affect many people depending on their age, sex and condition. The treatments are still very invasive and I think it is essential to support the development of knowledge and treatment against this disease.’

le-saint-sulpice-hotel-montreal-collection for-the canadian-cancer-society

Mission of the Canadian Cancer Society

The Canadian Cancer Society works tirelessly to save and improve lives. Thanks to their donors and volunteers, they’re able to fund groundbreaking cancer research into all types of cancer, offer support services to help people better manage life with cancer, shape healthy public policies to prevent cancer and support those living with the disease, and offer trusted cancer information for all Canadians.

At the Canadian Cancer Society, they are committed to uniting and inspiring Canadians to take control of cancer. That’s why they are always funding high performance research that improves cancer outcomes and addresses the greatest opportunities for progress. It’s why they lead change in the most pressing areas of cancer policy including prevention, access, affordability and support. And it’s why they provide the highest quality cancer information for all Canadians, promote cancer prevention and provide targeted support to help people with cancer, their families and caregivers cope.

Dear guests, contribute doubly to a ‘good deed’ by protecting the environment and supporting the Canadian Cancer Society.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

IN JANUARY, WE COLLECT IN FAVOR OF NATURE QUÉBEC

IN JANUARY, WE COLLECT IN FAVOR OF NATURE QUÉBEC FOR BIODIVERSITY

The collection of the hotel’s green program will be made in favor of Nature Quebec to protect biodiversity.

After having hosted COP 15 in Montreal for more than 15 days with more delegations from all over the world, it is only natural that Amandine Charroin, our events manager, has chosen the preservation of the biodiversity of our territory as the cause of the month of January. This is why the funds raised through our green program will be donated to Nature Québec.

“Last month, the city of Montreal hosted cop15, an international meeting on the theme of biodiversity. I wanted to follow up on this event by supporting the Nature Québec organization and particularly its biodiversity projects. Quebec offers us a rich living environment through its fauna and flora that we must preserve in order to pass it on to future generations. The number that struck me is 34: this is the number of caribou living today south of the Saint Lawrence, whereas there were hundreds of them just a few years ago… I would like us to contribute on our own scale to help these endangered species that are the image of Canada and its great natural spaces.’

The green program implemented since June 2022 consists of inviting guests staying at the hotel for a given month to refuse housekeeping during their stay. For each refusal, the hotel donates $5 to the foundation or organization chosen by one of our employees.

By participating in the green program, our guests contribute both to the preservation of the environment by reducing the use of household products and contribute financially to the cause of an NPO.

Nature Québec missions

Since 1981, Nature Québec (ex-UQCN) has been actively working for the conservation of natural environments and the sustainable use of resources in Québec. Our campaigns and projects affect biodiversity, forests, energy, climate and the urban environment. Supported by experts, the work of our team of professionals gives us recognized credibility in our areas of intervention. From Anticosti to the heart of cities, we act locally to meet global challenges related to climate and the environment.

We thank you in advance for your contribution!

A city in lights awaits you during your stay

Old Montreal’s idyllic streets are transformed at night with gorgeous light installations and fixtures.

Cité mémoire is a new addition representing one of the largest urban lighting installations in the world. Witness Montreal’s iconic history projected on the walls of Old Montreal’s French inspired buildings. Let the app guide you through the cobblestone streets and watch history come to life!

Cité Mémoire is available in winter on Fridays and Saturdays when the night falls.

Head towards the St. Lawrence to see the famous Jacques-Cartier Bridge illuminated. Created by Montreal’s very own Moment Factory for Montreal ‘s 375th Anniversary,, this wondrous light show changes colours depending on the season and is a must-see!

Montreal’s fifth edition of Lights Over Old Montreal comprises 14 different Christmas displays spread across the old port until January 5th 2023. These include jaw dropping illuminated sculptures, christmas trees and more. Check out this map to ensure you catch them all. Our luxury hotel in Old Montreal is perfectly located to enjoy all of these bright sights!

A view of the city awaits on La Grande Roue de Montréal

We highly recommend taking a spin on the highest observation wheel in Canada in our very own Old Port. Reaching a height of 60 metres, every 20-minute rotation offers 360-degree views that span 28 kilometres on a clear day. You may be wondering why we are suggesting this in the middle of winter, well, each of the 42 luxurious gondolas is climate-controlled! That’s right, not even the snow can stop you from enjoying the views. La Grande Roue de Montréal can be easily located in the Old Port as it is fully illuminated at night. When you stay at The Saint-Sulpice Hotel, one of the best hotels in Old Montreal, it is just a short walk away.

From all of us here at The Saint-Sulpice Hotel Montreal, happy holidays and happy New Year!
