Sustainable development program

In August, we support La Maison Bleue

For this month of August, the Saint-Sulpice Hotel Montreal is deploying its green program in favor of La Maison Bleue.

Launched in June 2022, the Hotel Le Saint-Sulpice’s Green Program raises funds for organizations that work in favor of sustainable or social development. All hotel guests staying in August are invited to refuse the housekeeping service during their stay of 2 nights or more, in order to contribute $5/day of refusal to the collection for La Maison Bleue.

In addition to financial support for this organization, customers also contribute to environmental protection by reducing their ecological footprint.

The mission of La Maison Bleue:

LOGO LA MAISON BLEUE

This non-profit organization’s mission is to provide an environment conducive to the development of children by intervening with pregnant women in vulnerable situations.

La Maison Bleue founded in 2007 has four houses in Montreal: in Côte-des-Neiges, Parc-Extension, Saint-Michel and Verdun. She intervened with 5,800 mothers, babies, siblings and spouses. Each of these Maison bleue brings together a whole “village” of mutual aid, a support network made up of health and social service professionals (family doctors, midwives, nurses, social workers, specialized educators, psychoeducators), therapists and volunteers offering a warm environment where families have access to care and services provided on a human scale.

La Maison Bleue was chosen by Martine Quintal, our financial controller who explains the reasons for her choice.

“When reading this text, I would like you to have in mind the sweet melody of « Prendre Un Enfant » by singer-songwriter Yves Duteil, because it perfectly sums up the mission that the founders of La Maison Bleue, Dre. Vania Jimenez, family doctor and midwife, and Amélie Sigouin, early childhood social-worker, and their team aim to do.

By choosing La Maison Bleue, is my way of giving back what I have received in life through this fundraiser. I had the privilege of having been so well surrounded by love and support, before, during and after my three pregnancies which now date back to almost 30 years. And now, I am about to experience another great privilege of life, that of being a grandmother.

My daughter, my baby, my beautiful Caroline, this 26-year-old young woman who is just about 20 weeks pregnant, who in turn is experiencing her pregnancy one of the most beautiful moments in life, her too surrounded by love, support, and everything she will need, before, during and after her pregnancy.

Unfortunately, it is not the same reality for all future mothers to live their pregnancies peacefully or surrounded by their loved ones. Far too many of them do not have access to these privileges that we too often take for granted. Thanks to La Maison Bleue, more and more young pregnant women can live their pregnancies well accompanied, surrounded by love, support, before, during and after their pregnancies. »

We thank our guests in advance for their generosity!

Sustainable development program

In july we support WWF for the oceans protection

In july, Le Saint-Sulpice Hôtel Montréal supports WWF-Canada!

With our sustainable and social development program set up in June, in favor of the Montreal SPCA, we are continuing our actions this time for the WWFWorld Wildlife Fund.

A simple principle: each refusal of housekeeping by our guest during his stay with us, allows us to collect $5 in favor of the monthly organization.

For the Montreal SPCA, we managed to collect: $$$$

We hope of course each month to be able to exceed the previous collection!

We will therefore encourage you if you stay more than one night at the Saint-Sulpice Hotel Montreal, to refuse your room cleaning service.

Les missions du WWF

The conservation challenges we face are not small. But, for the past 50 years, countless caring Canadians have helped us protect wild places and the species that live in them. Together, we will continue our work toward a future in which both humans and nature can thrive for generations to come.

World Wildlife Fund Canada is the country’s largest international conservation organization. Guided by the best scientific analysis and Indigenous knowledge, we work to conserve species at risk, protect threatened habitats, and address climate change. Our long-term vision is simple: to create a world where nature and people thrive.

To learn more: https://wwf.ca/

This organization was selected by our technical director Aldo Senbati, very aware of the protection of the oceans and who explains why:

‘The oceans have long been considered an inexhaustible source where everything can be taken and also where everything can be thrown. The proof is made that the oceans are showing signs of fatigue due to overexploitation and also to climate change. If the oceans can no longer absorb gases such as CO2, the resources will quickly disappear and therefore a billion people in the world will no longer have enough to eat. Fortunately, in our time it is still possible to take action to save hundreds of marine species and make this stretch of water clean as it once was.’

We count on you and your support, we thank you in advance!

 SPCA Montreal mission:

SPCA de Montréal soutenu par le saint-sulpice hôtel montréal

Their mission is to protect animals against negligence, abuse and exploitation, to represent their interests and ensure their well-being, to promote public awareness and to help arouse compassion for all sentient beings.

Find all of their actions on their website: https://www.spca.com/en

and follow the beautiful stories of adoption, rescue and intervention day by day on the facebook page of the Montreal SPCA

L'organisme du mois de juin que nous soutenons est la SPCA de Montréal.

This organization was selected by our colleague Angie Angers, sales manager, who is very sensitive to the cause of animal protection.

”Animal welfare is intrinsically at the heart of my deepest values. The love of animals was transmitted to me from my early childhood and has never left me since. Having lived in Mexico for a few years, I was made very aware of the problems of wandering, abandonment and animal neglect. I have always sought to get involved in organizations that serve to raise public awareness through education and prevention, in a promise of a better and fairer world. Intervening to improve their quality of life and sometimes even saving them means returning the favor… Defending the animal cause means speaking on behalf of those who have no voice to be heard. We are one species among many others, living together with respect and taking care of those who depend on us.”

We thank you in advance for your contribution!

Sincerely,

Le Saint-Sulpice Hotel Montreal Team

Sustainable development program

Official launch of our sustainable development program

The Saint-Sulpice Hotel Montreal unveils its sustainable and social development program for the year 2022-2023.

After 2 years of pandemic, which unfortunately undermined eco-responsible approaches and actions, we are strongly resuming our initiatives in terms of sustainable development.

New team, new sustainable development committee

A new committee made up of staff members involved in the fight against climate change has been created. Each department of the Hotel is represented and will have the task of developing new actions in order to make our hotel eco-responsible. Everyone will ensure our actions respect our commitment to GHG savings, waste management and be environmental friendly.

Lauch of our sustainable and social developement program

For the year 2022-23 we are launching a brand new program: 1 month – 1 cause

All the teams of all the departments are involved in this process: each person has chosen an organization, a foundation, a cause that was close to his heart and will be the sponsor of the actions to be carried out for the month that concerns him.

That is how we built the sustainable and social development calendar starting in June 2022.

Discover our annual-agenda of sustainable development program at le saint sulpice hotel montreal

The principle:

We invite all guests staying two or more nights to refuse the housekeeping service. At each refusal of service, $5 will be donated to the charity or cause of the month.

This simple gesture is doubly important! The contribution is both ecological and social.

Of course, Le Saint-Sulpice Hôtel Montréal is also committed to promoting their fundraising event on our digital platforms, blogs, social networks, but also within our institution. And of course, our teams will be invited to organize challenges, original donations, as well as volunteer service.

The organization will also have a space to promote and educate our staff and clients about the cause.

Sustainable development actions already in place

Green Key certification

Le Saint-Sulpice Hotel Montreal rated 4 keys with green key certification for its sustainable development programIn order to contribute to the development of an eco-responsible hotel industry, the Saint-Sulpice Hotel Montréal has been actively pursuing sustainable development for several years now. This allows us to certify every year 4 out of 5 keys to the program ‘Green Keys‘.

Through this program, we aim for continuous improvement in water and energy conservation, waste and recyclable materials management, and the use of our household cleaning products.

  • We choose and work in priority with local suppliers who are committed to protecting the environment.
  • We encourage our customers, but also our employees and colleagues to participate and take eco-responsible actions: collecting used batteries and phones for recycling with Call2Recycle, recycling Nespresso capsules, ink cartridges and paper.
  • All L’Occitane en Provence beauty products not used by our clients are offered to the non-profit organizationLa Rue des femmes’. Their mission: to welcome and care for women who are homeless or at risk of falling into it.
  • Energy Intelligence Project
In 2019, we undertook a major energy saving project through the implementation of a complete energy intelligence project in collaboration with Fusion Energy. This project included various elements in terms of control of the restaurant air conditioners, offices, changing rooms, lobby and conference rooms, humidity control, air quality control, heat loss etc..
  • New waste management system:
We have also implemented a new waste management system with the installation of a compactor for recycling. This has reduced the number of recycling levies by more than 75%. This major reduction in truck travel leads to a significant reduction in costs, air pollution and noise pollution. We also improved the quality of our recycling: due to lack of space sometimes, some items had to be put to waste. Therefore, we also reduced the frequency of waste collection by +30%.
  • Installation of Tesla charging stations
We have installed 3 charging stations for electric cars (Tesla or any other model) in our parking lot, and thus contribute to the development of non-polluting cars.

Le Saint-Sulpice Hôtel Montréal installe des distributeurs L'Occ

  • This year, we started to implement L’Occitane en Provence distributors to replace the amenities in our bathrooms and will be finished by spring 2023 for our 108 suites.

We stay at your disposal for more information about our sustainable devlopment program!

Sincerely,
